Soccer Turned Upside Down

Pelé performs a bicycle kick before the stands, his body almost horizontal as he reaches for the ball. The ball seems simple, but the game changes when someone sees a path nobody else noticed. That is when soccer becomes a surprise. In soccer, a play can last seconds and remain in memory for decades. Technique and improvisation often appear in the same play. The scene's interest lies in the interaction between its characters and what that encounter suggests to the viewer.
