An Embrace Beyond Presence

The embrace turns absence into a tender image of memory and love. The embrace in Ghost expresses an impossible wish: to touch someone who is no longer there. Perhaps that is why the scene remains so closely tied to longing. An unforgettable movie image becomes something like a memory shared across generations. It is the kind of reference that lets the viewer fill in what came before and imagine what happens next.
